Veteran Communications Counselor Dan Rene Joins LEVICK as a Vice President

Thursday, March 17, 2011

WASHINGTON — LEVICK, a global leader in high-stakes corporate, crisis, litigation, and public affairs communications, has appointed veteran communications counselor Dan Rene as a Vice President.

With more than a decade of media relations, legislative advocacy, grassroots engagements, and crisis communications experience gleaned from his work across a range of national and global matters, Mr. Rene’s arrival powerfully supports LEVICK'S strategic capabilities to provide the broadest possible service to clients faced with increasingly multifaceted challenges in today’s demanding marketplace.

Prior to joining LEVICK, Mr. Rene was a founding member of Impact Strategies, LLC, a communications, public affairs, grassroots, and research firm, where he led the firm’s highest-profile engagements, including: corporations who surmounted deadly reputational threats, politicians embroiled in personal and public crises, and high-profile athletes and entertainers confronted with career-threatening allegations.

Mr. Rene also spearheaded several important consumer media relations and corporate branding campaigns for products such as Proctor & Gamble’s Febreze®, Clorox’s Fresh Step Crystals®, and Olestra (Olean), among others.

“In today’s global marketplace, organizations of all types face a twin challenge,” Richard S. Levick, Esq., President and CEO of LEVICK said, “they need to build a positive brand and reputation and, when threatened, drive a positive narrative – not just a hope to 'spin’. With his expertise at knitting corporate and public affairs programs together, Dan will play a key role in helping our clients surmount the most important issues of the day.”

Previously, Mr. Rene served as campaign manager for Citizens For Reform where he implemented a nationwide grassroots campaign to bring accountability to legal services organizations. The initiative bore fruit, leading to the creation of the Legal Services Accountability Project, an initiative of the National Legal and Policy Center that today continues to expose and publicize abuse and lawbreaking by attorneys. He has also played leadership roles in dozens of political campaigns in the Commonwealth of Virginia and volunteers for many candidates and causes.

Prior to starting at Impact Strategies, Mr. Rene worked at Qorvis Communications where he directed numerous media campaigns, including campaigns for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, The Chandra Levy Family, and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be among such a great pool of talent,” Mr. Rene said. “LEVICK has the best team in the communications profession today.”

Mr. Rene received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Longwood College in Farmville, VA.
