The U.S. Has a WTO Credibility Problem

In this article that appeared on Forbes.com, Richard Levick looks at the front-page trade case filed by the Obama Administration against China. In addition to the calculated political timing of the announcement, there is an additional problem. The U.S. has not abided by a separate ruling in an online gambling dispute in which the WTO decided against the U.S. in favor of Antigua. That reluctance to comply can only undermine U.S. credibility, making it just that much easier for competing nations to likewise ignore the rules of international adjudication.
