A Return to Glass-Steagall?

This week on Seeking Alpha, we discuss Sandy Weill’s recent comments in favor of a return to the Glass-Steagall regulatory regime, which limited commercial banks’ securities activities and affiliations with investment firms. At a time when growth is slowing, shareholder value remains stagnant, and public patience with the financial services sector is wearing thin, big banks need to take steps that will keep legislators, regulators, and activist shareholders at bay.
